The key items I want to check out first…

FireFox “Send To” plugin. (Official, not a user created PowerToy so hopefully more options for pages/notebooks)

Embedded Files. (Rajuv mentions Zoho files and audio/video. Hopefully more are supported.)

Drawing Tools (Looks like you can add labels, plus easy to move around.)

Section Sharing (Share just a box on the page)

Real-Time Collaboration.

Note shown in the video, but of extreme interest to me are… Block Formatting (Borders and/or stationary-like design elements), Save As and Publish features, Send To and Blog This features, Tags, and Search.

This morning I discovered that I was forced to sell all my BlogShares (Fantasy Stock Market) stocks in StudentTabletPC. A hostile take over in which I made approx $2.5 MILLION! Too bad it’s fake money.

So I headed over to their site to see what they have been up to and front page center is Tracy’s new ring. She got engaged yesterday! CONGRATULATIONS TRACY!

Iambic has just updated Agendus to Version 4.2 for Outlook and Palm Desktop.

I used to use Agendus with my Palm Zire 72 and it worked great. I preferred the desktop version because of the four panel display of todos.

I tried the Outlook Version, but it was causing 2007 B2TR to crash when trying to enter a demo code. It prompts every time you try to create a new item and even clicking to continue the default 3 day demo caused it to crash. Version 4.2 is supposed to support 2007, but I gave up after browsing the forums and not finding any real solutions for 2007 problems.

I have downloaded the Palm Desktop version to try later, since I’ll have to install the Palm Desktop first (free from PalmOne.com).

There is also a 25% off sale going on. Add your email address on their special offers page to get the link.

“SyncNotes helps you keep you important snippets of information at your fingertips, always. SyncNotes is a system that allows you to easily store, retrieve and even communicate small pieces of textual information. The SyncNotes System consists of a desktop software that allows you to put up virtual sticky notes on your screen, a web based system that synchronizes all notes from your PC(s) and a WAP based interface for viewing and adding notes when you are on the go.”

My Take: SyncNotes lets you keep small notes on desktop, web, mobile phone, and PDA. I can see SyncNotes working well for people who keep little pieces of information (grocery lists, driving direction, etc). The best part about the system is the mobile access. No more writing down long direction or having my car littered with piece of paper. Just copy and paste it in a note and sync it with SyncNotes. SyncNote is on something, but it is too simple for me. I want EverNote to do something similer or perhaps even OneNote?

Note: A reader was kind enough to point out Sync Notes does not support Palm OS.

OneNote 2007 doesn’t treat it like Ink unless you use Vista.

I removed Vista last month because it was on my highest end workstation. I could reload it on a lesser PC, but am not motivated to. The 6 billion prompts for everything, plus IE7 with all the Live crapware, really turned me off.

I have no artistic abilities. Straight math and science. Can’t even draw stick figures.

Came with Evernote, could try that again. They are out of their silence mode and actively releasing again which is a good sign.

MindManager = Need Vista. Didn’t try MM on Vista when I had it loaded.

Research… I need to see what opportunites exist, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. A huge project at work just ended, so time to refocus on my toys!

Load Tablet PC on my StinkPad T40?

Any ideas?

I just came back from my CS 4001 class, which is an ethics class for software engineers. Usually we talk about different things software developers have to deal with (safety vs. meeting dead lines, fallacies in arguments, privacy issues, etc).

Today, we talked about visual arguments and ways they can be misleading. I won’t bore you with the detail, but basically the professor went over some graphs and highlighted some problems. Over and over, the biggest problems with the graphs was too much information (either too many graphs on one page or too much in one graph). This undermined the entire reason for graphs and charts.

This got me thinking that Information Overload is all around us (TV, websites, blogs, etc). So, if it is so prevalent, is it undermining things? In Part 2, I will examine my own personal experiences with this but for now, I wanted user opinion. What do you think? Do you think Information Overload is around us? If so, give some examples and how you combat it.
