It allows you to use Word 2007 to edit MindManager Maps.

  • To create the Word Doc (.docm file, m for macros) you do not need Office 2007 installed.
  • To edit the map in Word you do not need MindManager installed.
  • It creates a tab in the Ribbon Bar and lets you see an image of the original map, set the start/stop dates and see map markers, emoticons, comments, etc…
  • There are many cool features, including the ability to sync topics from document back with the original map and include an image repository. You really need to watch the demo video to get a good idea of all the things they thought of.

Now for my experience…

  • I like it. It’s simple, effective, and works great. I’m impressed.
  • I can’t wait to share more of my maps with co-workers. Of course no one else has Word 2007 and it will be years before it is a “corporate standard”, but I can get them to convert to 2007 much easier than to MindManager.
  • The Gyronix ResultManager’s “Dashboard” maps come across very nice. Especially the Committed Next Actions and Deadlines I’ll Accomplish (which contains the date as the topic)
  • The two minor improvements I would like to see…
    • Option in the Export to set Outline options, like bullets and indenting.
    • MS Word – Ability to Print the Outline View. This may be possible, but I don’t know how. This is by far the best view of the imported document.

Bloggers from Switzerland can get Mindjet for free until the 31st of August 2006 (more in German on SuperDeluxe). All you need is to describe your weblog, provide its URL, choose the language of the Mindjet MindManager in an e-mail you have to send at blog@mindjet.ch

Which means it will work great with ResultsManager. Unfortunetly the product page has no information yet.

It allowed categorization, keywords, quickly create tasks/notes/email/etc., quick launch to the internet, and more. Kind of a predesessor to ActiveWords or QuickSilver.

I can’t wait to see what this new capture tool can do. Hopefully Eric won’t keep us in suspense too long.

This post talks about a basic mind map.

To start us off I created a simple map of the prizes…

  • Added hyperlinks to the product pages.
  • Added Callouts and a description of each.
  • Created a Relationship between Camtasia and SnagIt
  • Added some Task Marker Icons
  • Added a Map Part (RSS feed) for the MindJet Blog
  • Modified the MindManager Topic
    • Changed the shape to a hexagon (Format Topic…)
    • Changed the color to blue
    • Added an Image of their logo

Obviously these are just some basics and not that exciting, but I wanted to post the starting point so visitors can see the progression.

He was previously working on properly formatting a Hyperlink/DocLink, but hopefully there is more.

UPDATE: From the MM6 SP1 information…

- Added Lotus Notes Hyperlink -> hyperlink to Lotus Notes documents in Mail, Calendar, Address Book and To Do. In Lotus Notes, select an e-mail, appointment, contact or task, choose “Copy as Document Link” or go to the Edit menu and choose one of the copy as link commands, then Paste in MindManager (or Paste Hyperlink, or Edit -> Paste Special -> Hyperlink).
Supports IBM Lotus Notes 6.5 only.
