As part of our effort to talk about any and all note-taking programs, here is a free java-based note-taking program called Jarnal. They recently released version 4.35 in late January. It has Ink support, keyboard support, hand-writing recognition, etc. There is a demo site to see it in action.

Jarnal is an open-source project. It doesn’t have all refinements as OneNote or Windows Journal. But, it does have potential. It use open source file formats, it is free, and since it is Java based, it can run on any platform running Java 2 1.4.2.

I will reivew Jarnal when I get a chance.
