Note Talkers

I’ve played BlogShares on and off for a while. I even have a OneNote Notebook named “Fun” which sadly only has one item… a link to my BlogShares Portfolio. Two days ago I came up with an idea to use it as a form of marketing/research. I upgraded my account to a paid account and started adding links to the sidebar with the blogs in my portfolio, then an interesting twist occurred to make it a Hat-Trick (hockey term for 3 goals).

1. Increase your RSS feeds and links…
• If you leave a comment on this post with a link to your site…
• If it’s related to the topics on our blogs (Note taking and productivity apps, OneNote PowerToys, being a Net Admin or Student) then I’ll subscribe to your RSS Feed (via NewsGator)
• If I can buy stock in it then I’ll add a link to your site on NoteTalkers.com, otherwise I’ll add it to my Watch List.
2. Increase my BlogShares Portfolio and find lots of interesting sites
• Hopefully by adding your sites early I’ll get in early and make lots of B$ money.
• I’ve added several blogs to the system and gotten in on your blog stocks for dirt cheap.
• As posted before, I made B$ 2.5M on a hostile takeover of StudentTabletPC.com last month.
• One of the neat features is that it shows the incoming and outgoing links from a blog, so I have used it to find more RSS feeds.
3. Kickbacks
• I have used my referral code in the links on this post. I have no idea what I get if you sign up, but hopefully something good.
• Last night BlogShares announced a form of PayPerPost… By writing this post they will give me Chips. There are many uses for Chips, but I will use all mine to play the Chances game.

So even though I had the idea and started doing the work before the kickback program, it was incentive to write a post today. I have to admit that I’m not very good at BlogShares though. I don’t know how to use the advanced features like Ideas, Corporations, Artifacts, and such. I’m not even very good at trading stocks and tend to sell them off in small amounts to let others buy them and increase the volume/price. I’m sure there is a much better strategy, but it’s just a game. I thought my B$ 87M cash was a bunch, but compared to the leaders I am in the poor house. I don’t even have enough to buy a lottery ticket.
UPDATE: Island Dave gave me 1000 Chips!
