OneNote 2007 Beta Review Part 4: Drawing Tools
OneNote 2003’s drawing tools left a lot of things to be desired. There really weren’t any drawing tools. It was just the pen, selection tool, eraser, delete, etc bundled into a new toolbar called “Drawing and Writing Tools”. But all of those tools were available in other toolbars. Below is a screen shot of the old drawing tools.
At first I didn’t see the need for drawing tools in OneNote. What is the point of drawing tools when I can draw myself. But then I took Digital Signal Processing. In this class, I have to turn in homework assignments and graphs. I can’t draw straight lines and I do all of my assignments in OneNote. I instantly saw the need for drawing tools.
Luckily, OneNote 12 developers saw the omission and included drawing tools in OneNote 2007. It includes lines, arrows, double arrows, rectangles, ovals, circles, squares, parallelogram, triangles, diamonds, 2-D axis, 3-D axis, rotate, and others. However, it doesn’t have all the drawing tools we have come to expect from other Office products like PowerPoint, but this is a promising start. So far, these drawing tools work very well. My graphs finally have straight lines!
