Alpha Testing of WordPress to OneNote

I’m not sure if the qualifies as a PowerToy, since it is more of a hack, but I’ll share my progress so far…

WordPress has a built-in feature to check an email account and automatically post it. The default wp-mail.php is not very feature rich. John Blade improved upon this with WP-Mail. Economy Sized Geek has further improved it with Postie.

After some initial testing, I think this has some potential. The first area for improvement at this point requires modifying the Postie code for different HTML tag stripping and image handling. The code is well commented and should be fairly easy to modify, I just haven’t gotten back around to it yet.

I spent way too much time trying to figure out PowWeb.com’s crontab and still can’t get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to run a .php file, preferably from a website address.

I’m using OneNote 2003 with Outlook 2003 and could also use some help testing. If you would like to try it…

  • Create a OneNote page (or journal?) that includes your OneNote version and email client/version.
  • Send it as an email to testwp@adminid.com (with or without attachment)
  • Wait X number of minutes/hours for me to manually run the import.
  • Check the site http://adminid.com/test to see how it worked

Obviously it is unrestricted, so please be polite with your posts and remember that it is a test site. Changes might be made without notice. Access might become restricted or it might be deleted.

Thanks,
AdminID
